Texas Republican Primary gets interesting

A recent article in the Houston Chronicle (here) addresses Debra Medina’s views on the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Most everyone is aware of the upcoming Texas Governors primary election on March 2nd. The meat of the race is between incumbent Rick Perry and current U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison. However, political newcomer Debra Medina is making inroads and putting a serious dent in Kay’s numbers. That is, she WAS, until an interview with radio show host Glenn Beck.
On a recent show, Glenn Beck asked Medina about her views on the 9/11 terrorist attacks on New York and Washington, DC. Her answer gave the impression she did not have enough information to make an informed decision and she believes the questions being asked by conspiracy groups are valid and need to be addressed. Perry and Hutchison jumped on this opportunity to attack Medina and show she is unqualified to be governor.

The most interesting part to me was the almost immediate reversal on the part of Medina. She released a statement saying she is not involved with the 9/11 truth movement and has seen no evidence to prove that anyone other than Muslim terrorists were behind the attacks.

Here are the questions:
1) Why would a rational person believe the attacks of 9/11 were an “inside job.”
2) What would cause Debra Medina to harbor some of these beliefs?
3) How can we believe her statement released after she answered the question on the radio a different way?

I can’t speak for everyone, but if I am asked a question, whether planned or not, I am going to give the answer I believe to be true. I won’t answer it one way then reverse myself later after being called out by political opponents, would you?
